The Shard
The Shard is a
skyscraper located in Southwark, London. With its 310 meter high construction
and eighty-seven floors it’s one of the highest buildings in Europe.
Seventy-two of these floors are used as office space, the other fifteen floors
they placed utilities such as central heating.
The Shard was designed
by Renzo Piano, known for other buildings such as the Toren op Zuid in
Rotterdam, Nemo in Amsterdam, The renovation of the Potsdammer Platz in Berlin
and many more. The building itself is known for its weird shape, seeing as it’s
shaped like a pyramid. Also, the entire building is covered in glass, making
the top floor perfect for use as a viewing platform, giving you a spectacular
view over the London skyline.
As mentioned before,
the building is used as office space that companies can use. The building is
perfect for this seeing as it has a whopping 111.000 square meters of floor
space.
